The Royal Automobile Club received the Gus Payne Award for the Leading Fundraiser at the 2025 President’s Awards, recognising its outstanding fundraising efforts alongside the transformation of its junior section.
RAC captains united men’s and ladies’ sections to run successful fundraising events for the Golf Foundation, while simultaneously growing their own junior section from just five members to 150 in three years.
RAC Captain Donald said:
“Our members embraced the chance to give back. We had no junior section – now we have 150 juniors, with boys and girls winning competitions. The fundraising has gone hand in hand with building a new future for golf at the club.”
The RAC also hosted new junior championships and opened family woodland facilities, making the club more accessible and welcoming.
Donald added:
“It was an easy sell to our members. We’ve all benefited from golf – this was our chance to give something back. The response was incredible.” The award recognises how fundraising can fuel both the Foundation’s mission and the growth of clubs themselves.
